The Solar-Terrestrial Environment Laboratory (STELab) of Nagoya University is a collaborative institute for conducting and promoting comprehensive research on the relationship between the solar activity and the terrestrial environment .

Global Chages of the Atmospheric Environment

Observations with a high-resolution Fourier transform infrared stectrometer have been made on a non-regular basis. Long-term measurements are to start in the near future to study the changing global atmospheric environment. In 1993, we successfully measured HC1, HF, HNO3, CH4, and other species using the current IR spectrometer. An algorithm to analyze the spectroscopic data has been developed. The IR measurements, together with the visible spectroscopic observations, have been approved to be a part of NDSC(the Network for the Detection of Stratospheric Change) program.
